Since ‘work from home’ has become so common, the demand for laptops has increased. Whether for work or for school. So which of the many laptops on the market is best for you? Before choosing one, ask yourself what you need it for and then select the right model and configurations. Here are some points to consider.

Size / Weight / Power Consumption

The size and weight are closely related to your usage habits. If you don't need to carry it around, pick a larger model to use at home. Choose a suitable screen size and a model that fits your desk. We recommend choosing 15" or larger.

For those who must carry their laptops around, choose a lightweight model. We recommend choosing a laptop under 15”, which usually weighs no more than 2 kg. Some models weigh less than 1 kg.

Meanwhile power consumption affects how long the laptop can run without being plugged in. Of course, this is related to the workload of the computer. A factor that should be considered when shopping for a laptop if you are always on the go.

CPU

The CPU (Central Processing Unit) is one of the main factors in determining a computer’s performance. Most laptops on the market have a CPU by Intel. Popular models are I3, I5, I7 and I9. The larger the number, the better the performance.

If you only need to do paperwork or watch movies, the I3 and I5 can handle it smoothly. If you need to handle video editing, 3D graphics and other tasks, we recommend the I7 and I9.

RAM

RAM (Random Access Memory) is the short-term data storage area within a computer that holds information about the computer in use and provides quick access to it. Popular RAMs available on the market are 8GB, 16GB and 32GB. 8GB is sufficient for general paperwork. If you need to edit videos, design graphics or open multiple programs at the same time, get a laptop with 16GB RAM or more.

Hard Disk

Hard disks are responsible for storing all data, including programs, files, and the entire operating system. Divided into two types: Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) and Solid State Drives (SSDs). SSDs are faster and have lower latency than HDDs but storage is more expensive. If you are using a laptop for work, SSDs are generally recommended because they offer a faster reading experience. However, if you don't mind slower access time and want more storage space for the same price, consider HDDs.

Graphics Card

A graphics card is an important tool for converting data into graphics. If you are only working on paperwork, the performance of the card is not a big issue. However, if you need to play computer games or edit videos, choose a laptop with a better built-in graphics processing unit (gaming laptops tend to focus on this aspect), or buy a computer that accommodates a separate graphics card.
